Latin Fusion first began about two years ago with the aim of
creating a true ‘Latin’ sound. It was put together with ex members
of different local Latin bands who have all had many years of experience in
the industry. Latin Fusion is still a new band in the Latin scene in Perth,
as it has not had a chance to make a name for itself. However, over the past
two years it is coming together rather well.
In this time we have played in various places and events such as a VIP party
at the Universal bar, support band for Ila Familia from Sydney at the Macumba
Party organized by Caribe Stereo at the Globe Nightclub. As well as this, we
have played at the Osborne Park Hotel for the annual wine Expo, a short residency
at Emporio Bar & Café, plus weddings, community parties for Latin
organizations, fundraising events and private corporate events.
The band consists mainly of seven members, they are: German Dunovits a well
known percussionist with lots of experience playing in the local circuit for
bands like Sabroson and L.C. Salsa, Boris Vega arguably one of the best Timbaleros
around, Karla Cerna Keyboard and vocals doing an impeccable job for the band,
Pedro Doño Guitar and Vocals adds lots of experience as an ex solo performer,
Bill McAlister Trombone one of the best in the local music scene experience
and professionalism, Lindsay Tims Trumpet passion, professionalism and many
years of experience in the local music scene, finally Carlos Cerna Bass and
lead vocals all enthusiasm and experience in the local Latin scene.
The bands aim is to produce authentic Latin sounds with main influences of Cuban
Son and Salsa. Our repertoire includes music by great musicians like Tito Puente,
Eddy Palmieri and Celia Cruz. Other Latin styles include Salsa, Son, Merengue,
Cha Cha, Plena, Colombian Cumbia and Rumba.
